Project: "Simcoe Centre/Ritz Carlton"
Location: Toronto, Canada |
Background: The Simcoe Centre/Ritz Carlton project is currently in the Design/Pre-Bid stage. Key project members include: KPF Architects & Planners (New York), Page + Steele Architects (Toronto), HBA Design Consultants (Atlanta), Babey Mouton Jue & Booth (San Francisco). Reprodux Ltd. fulfills all the print requirements for the project members located in Toronto. There are a total of 45 myplanroom .ca members for this project.
Project Issues: Tracking and sharing documents between all project members was critical as members were scattered across North America, and even as far away as England and India. With time zone differences of up to 6 hours, instant transmission of documents was key, as members could ill-afford to wait on other parties for working drawings.
The myplanroom .ca Payoff After a recommendation from Page + Steele Architects, project members were invited to join myplanroom .ca. With minimal training required, document transfer was immediately streamlined among all members, allowing for instant notification via email. Users were now able to download and view the documents they required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, regardless of their location around the world. The risk of using outdated documents was also eliminated using automatic versioning control, key to the success of the project as members were working simultaneously on the drawings across the world. |
